Matthew is a multi-media storyteller based in Los Angeles. His creative work focuses on restorative justice and the lives disrupted by systemic oppression. Matthew is inspired by his immigrant parents who fled the social upheaval and political unrest of the collapsing USSR. He graduated from UC Irvine where he studied Education Sciences and Digital Filmmaking.
Matthew’s notable work as a director include Within Their Gates - a Newport Beach Film Festival selection and Best Short Documentary winner at Independent Shorts and Apollo 7: The Forgotten Mission - featured in the National Space Society. He has produced for a multitude of companies, including Salesforce and LA Promise Fund.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Matthew co-founded Our Small Majority with Prison Psychology Researcher, Christian Marques Black. Together, they grew a team of talented filmmakers to provide a voice for people to share their unique experiences concerning social inequality around the world.
